SUMMARY

after update from Ubuntu 19.10 to 20.4
pics copied on commandline or with filemanager to directory configured in digikam are not automatic seen in digikam. rescan is required



STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. go to a album in digikam (eg /pics/2020/)
2. go to shell and copy a new jpg-file to that dir (eg /pics/2020)
3. pic is not seen in digikam. 
44 same if file is deleted (inotify issue?)

OBSERVED RESULT
no change

EXPECTED RESULT
expect digikam pick

The monitoring of the albums for external changes can be configured in newer digiKam versions. The default setting is deactivated for various reasons. Activate the option "Monitor albums for external changes" in the digiKam settings under collections.
