ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

If changes are to be recognized by digiKam at runtime, the option can be activated in the digiKam settings under collections to monitor albums for external changes. I advise against it for various reasons, but it works. Otherwise, new thumbnails can be created in the album with "F5".

Maik,

Thanks for the quick response. Is it possible for Digikam to automatically refresh the thumbnails for the file that was just edited in the external editor? No need to refresh entire library, just the single file.

F5 or using the refresh option from the menu doesn't update the thumbnail either.

The "F5" key definitely works, but only in the physical album view.

You are correct but I use Tag view and it doesn't work.

In digiKam-7.0.0-rc we have a new option under Tools "Scan for new Items". This also works if you have a search view open. I close the bug.
