If you take a lot of pictures with your smartphone, you will eventually lose track of exactly where the picture was taken.

For digikam, a feature would be desirable that reads the geographic coordinate of an image and thus performs a reverse search via OpenStreetMap and its nominatim search (reverse geocoding).

The result would be an automated sorting of the images in the respective subfolders according to nominatim search.

If you don't mind doing it manually for a selection of pictures, you can already do that using the Geolocation tool (reverse geocoding tab). 

For an automated location list, I think it's the same suggestion I made some time ago at bug 399113.
