If you take a lot of pictures with your smartphone, you will eventually lose track of exactly where the picture was taken. For digikam, a feature would be desirable that reads the geographic coordinate of an image and thus performs a reverse search via OpenStreetMap and its nominatim search (reverse geocoding). The result would be an automated sorting of the images in the respective subfolders according to nominatim search. Example: Hikes / Country / State / District / Sight https://nominatim.openstreetmap.org/
If you don't mind doing it manually for a selection of pictures, you can already do that using the Geolocation tool (reverse geocoding tab). For an automated location list, I think it's the same suggestion I made some time ago at bug 399113.
