SUMMARY When configuring the bottom (by default) bar as "hide automatically", it reveals itself when a window requires an user input, and you can see which one because it's highlighted in the taskbar. But sometimes, activating the window doesn't stop it from being highlighted, so the bar doesn't hide. It happened for multiple applications (Konsole, Firefox, Signal, even Dolphin if I remember right), and I keep the line `pkill plasmashell && kstart5 plasmashell` in my shell history which is my only way to see again the bottom of my fullscreen windows. (sorry if I'm not using the right terms, it's harder as plasma is localized) STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Configure the bar containing the windows list as "hide automatically" 2. Use multiple programs which may require an user input 3. At some point, you may be unable to make the taskbar hide again OBSERVED RESULT The taskbar doesn't hide when activating an highlighted window EXPECTED RESULT The window stop being hightlighted when it's activated, and the taskbar hide again SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch Linux (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.69.0 Qt Version: 5.14.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
It happened just after filing this issue and it doesn't seem to be so much about "windows that ask for focus". The taskbar stays visible, but if you change the focused window, it's this window that gets highlighted in the taskbar. You just have no way to get the bar to hide.
I suffer from the same experience: Operating System: Kubuntu 20.04 KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.68.0 Qt Version: 5.12.8 Kernel Version: 5.4.0-80-generic OS Type: 64-bit Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i7-3520M CPU @ 2.90GHz Memory: 7.5 GiB
Hello, do you still have this problem? I was not able to reproduce it unfortunately. For me, the bottom bar works as expected, even if I have multiple windows requiring input are open.

I have KDE Plasma Version 5.18.8 meanwhile.
Cool, let's call it fixed.
