Probably a problem with the graphics card driver. It cannot be reproduced on 2 native Windows computers (Win7 / Win10) or in the VM (Win10).

Yes, can be reproduced with 7.0.0-rc.

My graphics card is nothing special - integrated Intel UHD Graphics P630 with the driver that came with my PC. Haven't noticed any problems with it so far.

Best regards,
Harald

Additional information:

- *always* happens when leaving a menu by clicking in the main (middle) panel
- *never* happens when leaving a menu by clicking in one of the side panels, or any other place of the digiKam window, or outside of digiKam
- seems to be independent of the digiKam window size
- what is drawn is a rectangle, with the top line sometimes missing, the top left corner not defined (can be anywhere in the main panel), the bottom right corner being the mouse position when clicking
- to get rid of the dotted lines, you have to change what is displayed in the middle panel, e.g. by selecting a different vertical tab on the very left

If I can help you with anything to find the problem please let me know.

Best regards,
Harald

Additional information: Just installed digiKam 7.0.0 beta 3 in a VirtualBox with Linix Mint Mate on the same physical machine. Problem doesn't happen there.

digiKam 7.0.0 stable release is now published:

We need a fresh feedback on this file using this version.

Thanks in advance

Dotted lines still there

Gilles,

First of all, thanks for version 7.0.0. Having experimented with digiKam during the last months, whenever I had some time to spare, I now took the plunge and entrusted my pictures to digiKam. Am now well on my way to (re-)organizing them in a way I had long planned doing.

Back to the issue. Unfortunately, it persists. See attachment. Moving focus from the digiKam window makes the dotted lines disappear, as does scrolling them out of the visible area.

Best regards,
Harald

Gilles,

same to you :-)

When I open a menu, then move the mouse into the main panel and click there, the dotted lines appear but disappear as soon as I release the mouse button.
However, when I move the mouse to the main panel, click and hold and move the mouse again before releasing the mouse button, the dotted lines, or fragments thereof, remain. They disappear when I open a menu again.

So, while not completely gone, a clear improvement compared to before since it doesn't seem possible anymore to fill my screen with dotted lines, even if I try ;-)

By the way, it only happens when I move the mouse to the main panel. If I move it to the side panels, or other places outside the main panel, no dotted lines appear.

Hope this helps & best regards,
Harald

@caulier.gilles@gmail.com:

I'm not yet on 8.0.0, but can say that on 7.10.0 the problem is not completely gone but not really relevant anymore: The dotted lines appear, but disappear as soon as I release the mouse button. This is under Windows 10; under Linux, the dotted lines do not appear at all.

Best regards,
Harald

@harald.aust@web.de,

This problem still reproducible with the new digiKam 8.2.0 pre-release Windows
installer available at usual place:

https://files.kde.org/digikam/

This new bundle is based on last Qt framework 5.15.11 and KDE framework 5.110.

Thanks in advance

With the new 8.2.0 pre-release Windows installer build with VCPKG+MSVC toolchain and Qt6, the problem is not reproducible under Windows 10. I close this file now.
