Description sourcemaker 2020-04-24 01:36:12 UTC
After the KDE frameworks were updated, all existing passwords in kwallet were lost. The existing file kdewallet.kwl was overwritten empty. A backup had to be restored. Otherwise, all passwords will be lost forever.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Update kwallet to 5.69.0
2. Reboot system
3. kwalletd asks for creating a new wallet and immediately deletes the existing wallet

OBSERVED RESULT
All stored passwords in kwallet are lost/deleted

EXPECTED RESULT
No critical data loss!

I have not seen this issue reported elsewhere, and I didn't see it either (my system is continously updated).

Are you using KWallet PAM?

This ticket is obsolete.
The error has not recurred since then.
