SUMMARY Text editing feature is very limited and not user-friendly STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create a title layer 2. Add a text container and start adding long text inside OBSERVED RESULT When a text is getting too long - it goes beyond screen. It is now not possible to create a bounding rectangle that defines a text block size and automatically wraps the text if it goes beyond the block. Instead, user has to manually split it to lines with "Enter" key. The additional problem of doing that quickly is: 1) a cursor position is not visible (having a blinking 'typewriter' cursor would be good); 2) if the text is - let's say - aligned to the left, after adding more text the text block is moved to the left and user has to adjust text block position each time manually; having a bounding container would resolve such problem. Bounding container maybe have two options: 1) autoresize the size to fit the text; 2) wrap the text if it goes beyond the container margins; EXPECTED RESULT SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: 10 Pro macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: KDE Frameworks Version: Qt Version: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This is the most annoying thing about Kdenlive. I'm adding captions to my videos and I can't use templates with %s placeholder since as soon as the caption doesn't fit in one row, it goes beyond the screen instead of automatically wrapping the text to the next row. It's almost impossible to work with the editor if you have subtitles or captions that can't fit in one row.
Titler is under completely re-write. Hopefully it will come soon.
