Description MarcP 2020-04-21 18:06:06 UTC
SUMMARY
The map panel on the left allows you search pictures by drawing a rectangle on the map. However, when you try to reposition the map after making a selection, another rectangle is drawn and the previous selection is lost. It feels "sticky".

I believe that it would make sense to default to the pan mode when opening that panel, let the user switch to "select images by drawing a rectangle", and then go back to pan mode once the rectangle has been drawn.

What do you think?

(this behavior was reported in digikam-7.0.0-beta3-20200414T071003-x86-64.appimage and previous versions)

I confirm the dysfunction.

Possible origin of the problem : the new Marble version which change some mouse behaviour with the canvas

Since we were talking about the map, could we have a look at this one too? It's not very intuitive to use. First, because of the "stickiness" of the search rectangle.

But also, there are 14 buttons under the map, and I think the interface could be simplified (e.g. the placing zoom buttons as part of the map, or hide the increase and decrease thumbnail size buttons if markers are being used)

Hi MarcP,

The new AppImage bundle 8.7.0 pre-release for Linux based on Qt 6.8.3 is
online at usual place :
