Can > you please try a newer Okular and reopen the bug report if your problem > persists? Hi Oliver, thanks for your reply. Can you please point me to where I can learn to install a newer version of okular for my 18.04LTS Ubuntu? I have both the Ubuntu and Kubuntu backport repositories enabled. Many thanks.
Sorry, but I am not an Ubuntu expert, and I don't know whether they ship a new enough version somewhere.
If you're an ubuntu user, you need to complain to the Ubuntu developers about how old and crashy the things they ship are. Meanwhile you can always try Okular from flathub, it has it's own different set of issues caused by the flatpak technology but it is a mode moden version that whatever old stuff Ubuntu 18.04 provides https://flathub.org/apps/details/org.kde.okular
