Created attachment 127434 [details] Screenshot of error dialog SUMMARY Title says it all. Kmail immediately crashed when I deleted "Local Folders" from the sidebar (because for me it's useless), and now every time I open it, it immediately crashes. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open Kmail. 2. Delete "Local Folders" by right-clicking and then selecting "Delete" (or "Remove" I can't remember which and I can't reopen kmail to check now) 3. Suffer forever. OBSERVED RESULT Kmail crashes and becomes unopenable. An error dialog appears instead of kmail. Error message: "The Email program encountered a fatal error and will terminate now. The error was: Failed to fetch the resource collection." EXPECTED RESULT Not that. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE Neon 5.18 User Edition KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.68.0 Qt Version: 5.14.1 Kernel Version: 5.3.0-46-generic ADDITIONAL INFORMATION "The Email program encountered a fatal error and will terminate now. The error was: Failed to fetch the resource collection."
I was able to get kmail to open again by opening Akonadi Console and reconfiguring "Local Folders" from there. I still think this is a bug and THERE SHOULD BE A WAY TO NOT HAVE LOCAL FOLDERS CLUTTERING UP THE SIDEBAR without it killing the entire application.
still present on 21.12.1 with no obvious workaround on gentoo compiled using portage (package manager). 15 minute bug initiative? Or is that only for plasma proper? I experienced this within 30 seconds of trying to switch to kmail from thunderbird.
yep, still there, and kmail opens its view in local/outbox (instead of an inbox in an actual email account) - what a sensible default.. lol
