SUMMARY 1. When I plug in my headset, it is not detected and so I cannot hear any sound until I go into setting and change the audio profile. However, if I unplug my headset, the system does detect this and it will change my audio profile and disable my headphones. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Plug headphone in. 2. Plug headphone out. 3. Plug headphone in. OBSERVED RESULT No sound in headphone. EXPECTED RESULT Hear sound in my headphones. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: openSUSE Tumbleweed (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.68.0 Qt Version: 5.14.1 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
If I open "PulseAudio Volume Control", go to "Configuration" tab, I will see "Analog Stereo Output" when I can hear audio from my headphones jacked in. When I unplug my headphones, the description changes to, "Off". After plugging my headphone back into jack, description doesn't return to "Analog Stereo Output". Also now the drop-down list option display it as: "Analog Stereo Output (unplugged)(unavailable)". I have to select this option to make my headphone work again. However the description is very confusion.
Odd. I'm inclined to say it's a PulseAudio bug--or at least something in plasma-pa, but it's not a problem with the System Settings page. Is this still happening for you with the latest Tumbleweed snapshot? I can't reproduce FWIW.
I am unable to get my headphone with a jack input working, it is no longer detecting the headphone.
Seems like a PulseAudio bug. Can you report upstream to the PulseAudio folks. https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/issues/
