SUMMARY Sometimes, Ark fails to fully compress a folder and its contents. And there's no way to tell because it doesn't give any error message, so it seems like it has completed but then you're left with an incomplete archive. I noticed it a few times but when I try to compress my Firefox profile folder, it fails 100% of the time (even with firefox closed). I'm not sure what causes it, and I don't know how to obtain a log or anything. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Try to compress a bunch of files and folders at the same time, either from the dolphin context menu or any other way 2. Compression starts, but stops halfway through 3. No error message is given, archive is incomplete. OBSERVED RESULT No error message whatsoever is given in case of error. It says finished but it's not true because the archive is incomplete. EXPECTED RESULT I expect an error message so that I know my archive wasn't created properly. Actually I figured out the archive is created properly. What tricked me into thinking the archiving failed was 1. The progress bar stops abruptly halfway through 2. The archive properties after opening in Ark do not match with what Dolphin shows (maybe it only looks at the first child folder while Dolphin looks at all of them? I dunno) The archive is created properly. I uncompressed the archive and everything was there. I think this can be closed and ignored if this inconsistency is intended. The progress bar does stop abruptly though sometimes and it totally looks like it crashed or failed halfway through.
