Description tony.spegel 2020-04-06 17:50:50 UTC
Spectacle fails to create any screenshots when following the steps as I outlined them below. When trying so, Spectacle simply does nothing and is vanished. There isn't a layer as usual. However if "when clicking" is activated it works.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Spectacle
2. Be sure that rectangular selection is selected
3. Set no delays
4. Unset "when clicking" (next to delay)
5. Try making a new selection

OBSERVED RESULT
Rectangular selection does nothing and closes Spectacle

EXPECTED RESULT
A layer to select a rectangular area

Yeah works for me too. Since spectacle is crashing, please attach a crash log and console output (i.e. run `spectacle` on the command line so you can see any output when it crashes).

For more information see https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Issue_Reporting#Crash_reports_must_include_backtraces
Comment 7 tony.spegel 2020-04-14 22:57:02 UTC
It worked once for me when starting from my terminal but most of the time it doesn't
console output:
kf5.kconfig.core: "\"cropRegion\" - conversion of \"0,0,0,0\" to QRect failed"
But this seems to come in both cases not only when it doesn't work

I have no idea how to include backtraces, the link doesn't help in this regard
Comment 8 David Redondo 2020-04-15 07:07:03 UTC
So it doesn't crash but the region selection thing doesn't show itself?
The message you are seeing means we are already in the constructor of the region selector, hmm...
