Description Jean-Marc Sparenberg 2020-04-01 13:58:58 UTC
Dear Developers,

I am a happy long-time user of Kde and Kile but since my last upgrade to the LTS version 18.04 I have a problem with kile: the default packages contain the kile 3 beta 1 version which is not working properly.

In Synaptic, I've tried the "Force version" solution to get back to Kile 2, which was working great, but there does not seem to be another version available than Kile 3.

Would it be possible to get back to a stable version of Kile, which seems more appropriate for a LTS distribution?

Many thanks in advance,

Jean-Marc Sparenberg

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install Kubuntu 18.04
2. Install Kile
3. Run kile

OBSERVED RESULT

A buggy beta version starts

EXPECTED RESULT

A stable version would be much better

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
KDE Plasma Version: 5.12.9

Are these issues also visible with Beta 3?

Don't know: I just use the default version of Kile provided in the LTS distribution, which is beta 1.

I'm just a standard user, without much knowledge about installing non standard version of the packages without risking to damage my system... This is the reason why I prefer LTS versions, which are supposed to be stable and supported!

Thanks for your interest!

You could test a live DVD of Kubuntu 20.04 without installing/upgrading.
