I would love if Okular had a night mode like Evince. I would suggest two modes: 1. Invert only black and white 2. Invert all colors, if option 1 makes things unreadable
I'm pretty sure we already have invert colors. What does "Invert only black and white" even mean?
> I'm pretty sure we already have invert colors. In preferences --> accessability But see also https://invent.kde.org/kde/okular/-/merge_requests/141
Well invert only black and white means exactly what it says. If you invert all colors, the pictures look like airport scanner images. When you only invert black and white the other colors stay the same. It would still be really convenient if there would be a button for night mode, that you could add to the toolbar. I mean night mode is coming to many apps now, because the light exposure makes people sleep badly. It should be easily accessible I think. I am hoping an overall automatic night mode will come to KDE soon. GNOME already implemented it, but I don’t like that DE.
Created attachment 127159 [details] (Not really) Possible color modes: Invert only gray pixels What you want is that the renderer takes the page background and inverts its color, and takes the text and inverts its color. This needs additional intelligence. The current color modes are dumb, and only invert the pixel colors. We can’t simply take black pixels and make them white, and take white pixels and make them black. It would look a bit better to invert all pure-gray pixels, but images would still look a bit broken. I have attached a screenshot of these two options. By the way we merged https://invent.kde.org/kde/okular/-/merge_requests/144. You could try whether Invert Lightness or Invert Luma satisfies you. > If you invert all colors, the pictures look like airport scanner images. Thanks, that’s an excellent description. :)
Created attachment 127160 [details] attachment-2200-0.html Yes, the lnvert lightness and luma options are what I had in mind. I wdid not find them before. Will have a look at them later
