Description slartibart70 2020-03-26 08:59:32 UTC
We (unfortunately) need to use citrix access to some machines, so i installed the citrix-receiver/ica client for linuxX64.
All is running fine, but i constantly have tasks/icons in the taskmanager (i'm using the icons-only variant) being highlighted, as if the citrix-apps needed your attention. (in my case, active icons have a blue line on top of the taskbar icon, the 'need-attention' ones have a yellowish/brown backgound with a yellow/brown line on top)

This might be due to a refresh or something in citrix, because there is nothing new to look after.

BUT, the taskbar, which i have hidden normally, stays put in all its glory, covering parts of my plasma/kde windows.

Even putting the citrix apps on another desktop (e.g. 2) and configuring the taskbar to show icons from the current desktop only, the taskbar keeps displaying these highlighted app icons on my current desktop.

What can i do to prevent this 'get-my-attention feature'?
I would suggest that one should be able to configure the taskbar in a way that notifications/attentions from some applications (in my case all the citrix ones) will be suppressed. Maybe such a feature would be handy in other cases, too.

any other suggestions for a workaround?

Have you reported a bug to the Citrix devs? We really try not to work around egregious bugs in app behavior, or else there's no incentive for apps to ever behave properly.

Hi Nate,
no, i did not report this problem to citrix yet (mainly because here you'll get an answer soon, the others... well...)

Thanks anyway for your reply, so there is not an option i missed in the existing taskbar to toggle this notification behaviour.
Don't you think this _could_ be an interessting feature for future implemenations?
Comment 5 Nate Graham 2020-04-15 14:50:42 UTC
I'm afraid there isn't an option. We rely on apps being well-behaved and not inappropriately requesting attention all the time. Please do report the issue to the Citrix people!

Plasma folks, does anyone think this could be a bug on our end or that we should hand or work around it on the Plasma side?

Closing this old issue.

The Task Manager is definitely still maintained; changing resolution status to DOWNSTREAM because this is an issue in an app that we can't feasibly work around in Plasma.
