Can you reproduce this? What distro is this with? Which release of kio-extras is this with?
Comment 3 tf2 2020-03-23 21:09:52 UTC
Hi,
It appears in Manjaro 19 or Kubuntu 18.04 on different PC's at any time when I try browsing SMB in my LAN.
kio-extras 19.12.3-1 (Manjaro)
kio-extras 4:17.12.3-0ubuntu2 (Kubuntu)
M.

Curious.

Please run dolphin the following way on manjaro:

`KDE_FORK_SLAVES=1 QT_LOGGING_RULES="kf5.*=true;kf5.kio.*=true;kio_smb=true" dolphin --new-window 'smb://'`

and trigger the issue, then paste the output in this bug report.
Comment 5 Harald Sitter 2020-03-24 08:37:29 UTC
Oh, and do you happen to be able to build kio-extras yourself? I may need to add some additional debug output but that requires you to be able to build from source.
Comment 6 tf2 2020-03-24 10:26:23 UTC
...sorry I don't know what do you mean:

 `KDE_FORK_SLAVES=1 QT_LOGGING_RULES="kf5.*=true;kf5.kio.*=true;kio_smb=true"
 dolphin --new-window 'smb://'`

Comment 9 Harald Sitter 2020-03-25 09:31:49 UTC
Can you provide a guide on how to setup two workgroups like you have? What are the servers, how are the configured and so forth?

From the output you posted I doubt this is a problem with KIO though, but rather with libsmbclient (maintained by samba team). What appears to happen is that we ask libsmbclient to browse the workgroup and the library fails to do some coming back with an unspecified error. It's a very strange problem.
Comment 10 tf2 2020-03-25 11:17:00 UTC
My LAN:

Workgroup:  - Raspberry PI:   - LIBREELEC1:  - SHAREDFOLDERS...
NASNET: - NAS Asustor 1004T: - SHAREDFOLDERS...
                - notebooks Clients with Windows 7, Linux Mint XFce 19.3, Manjaro KDE 18

There isn't Linux Samba server.
I agree, problem could be in libsmbclient or another library.

Comment 11 Harald Sitter 2020-03-25 12:24:51 UTC
I fail to reproduce this problem unfrotunately. Let's get some extra info:

please run in a konsole: `kwriteconfig5 --file kioslaverc --group SMB --key DebugLevel 10`

After that repeat the command from Comment #4 and attach the new debug output. It should be a lot more than before.

err2.txt

My country is Czech. I installed Manjaro KDE English (US) version. Problem remains.
But on line 108 is Czech sentence "Jiné kódování ()" . (different coding) . This is suspect.
Maybe problem is in charsets.
