Start Okular on a PDF file without a title, and it shows "No Title" on top if "Display document title in titlebar if available." If I uncheck that, it does show the file name or full path depending on the next option. As I read this, the "if available" implies there is some option for what to do if the title is NOT available. I'm calling this a wishlist because it is not clearly wrong, but is certainly not helpful. So, I wish that if the first option is checked, and the title is not available, then the file or path be displayed instead, per the following option. If this will not be done, then consider changing the wording of the option to "Display document title in titlebar" (drop the "if available") as it is just misleading - you can't possibly display the title if it is NOT available. As an alternate for this last request - consider merging the two options to a single one with three possibilities: 1) display the document title, 2) display the file name, 3) display the full path. This should avoid any expectation of seeing a file name if there is no titile available. As a further wishlist, it might be even more helpful to display both the title and the file name/path. Some of this was discussed in bug 158401 from over 10 years ago
Please attach a file where you have this problem with.
Apologies. My bad. All the files (from my investment broker, so sharing would be a problem) actually have the literal "No Title" as the title. I'd complain to them, but I doubt their customer support is capable of understanding. I'm not sure why I didn't actually notice any file that truly didn't have a title (maybe because I have found so few?) where the name/path WAS displayed correctly. I'd still like to keep this open as a wish list to be able to display both the title and the file name/path. Obviously that's a much lower priority, and I've changed the title to be more descriptive.
