STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Set font to some monospace font, such as Ubuntu Mono or Dejavu Sans Mono 2. Type or copy&paste some CJK chars. OBSERVED RESULT The below part of each line with any CJK chars will not be displayed. See screenshot in attachments for demonstration. EXPECTED RESULT Each line will should be displayed properly. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.16.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.62.0 Qt Version: 5.12.4
Same thing with Kate 19.12.3 on Arch Linux.

Created attachment 129855 [details] Cut off text when using some non-latin characters This issue is present for me pretty much every time I use a character that is not in Latin script. It exists with Arabic script, CJK and with other characters. When using Arabic script the descenders of letters like gjpy are a little cut off at the end. Whereas when using a character like this 🜁 half of the line is cut off. See attached screenshot. Kate Version: 20.04.1

This bug is fixed as far as I can see with Kate 20.07.70
