Created attachment 126590 [details] Tray notification icons are missing This is the 3rd time this bug occurred for me, the only solution that recovers those missing icons is only deleting .config and .kde folders from home user, but it's tiring to reconfigure each time the whole plasma to make it work again, is there any trick or road to track/fix this bug ? By the way keyboard shortcut switcher is working and also copyq is started in the background, only their tray icons are missing ! See my attached image for more info. Operating System: Kubuntu 19.10 KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.67.0 Qt Version: 5.12.4 Kernel Version: 5.3.0-42-generic OS Type: 64-bit Processors: 2 × Pentium® Dual-Core CPU T4400 @ 2.20GHz Memory: 5.6 GiB of RAM
It seems that after I go to "Settings" then "Startup and Shutdown" then "Background Services", If I disable the service called "Status Notifier Manager" then enable it and click apply my missing icons (Keyboard layout indicator and Copyd) are reappearing again in tray icon.
I can confirm I'm having this bug as well since upgrade to 5.18. I've seen few people having this issue on archlinux forum as well. Seems like maybe the service medin's mentioning starts too early? Because it also seems it start's working after simply restarting plasmashell Operating System: Manjaro Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.3 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.68.0 Qt Version: 5.14.1 Kernel Version: 5.4.27-1-MANJARO OS Type: 64-bit Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz Memory: 31,3 GiB
What exactly is the problem here? Can you clarify?
Well, I noticed that it happens every time after I upgrade distro (and plasma with it) and it fixes itself after few reboots. Basically after logging in to plasmashell, the icons of apps that are autostarted are transparent (I mean the icon box is there but there is no image shown). You can click the icon but there is no image. I'll try to take a better screenshot next time it happens to me. Also it seems it happens rerely now. When I was reporting this it was happening almost every reboot
I don't know if i can edit comments, sorry. Just wanted to add that it happens only on 3rd party apps. KDE icons like network, volume control etc. are displaying correctly
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #3) > What exactly is the problem here? Can you clarify? In the last upgrades this problem is not visible, but earlier after upgrading some 3rd apps (like Copyq) notification indicators become missing in notification area. I will try to observe if I get the same bug in future upgrades
