It also happens in the latest nightly version.

Thanks for the report.

I tried, but cannot reproduce.

Unfortunately I don't have the debug symbols for the libraries and kate so I could not get too much info from the crash-dump :(

I suspect that it could be a plugin that you have loaded that triggers the crash. Can you try to remove the configuration files for kate under .../AppData/Local/ and see if that fixes the crash. There is a bunch of rc files under there and then a few folders that are related...

Thanks,
  Kåre

I didn't install any plugin and have the default settings (I can't change them). There's a "katerc" file and a "kate" directory in "AppData/Local". Removing them doesn't fix the crash, and they appear again after I reopen Kate.

There was a regression in kcmutils 5.67.0 that caused kontact to crash when opening its settings.

This might be the cause for this crash here too I suppose.

See bug#417396.

Hmm, I tried this with the last build, works for me.

I now submitted this build to the store (first 20.04 version, should be online in a few days).

Could you retry with that one?

Or try to get if from the alternatives listed here:
