Description smokythebearonthemountain 2020-02-25 22:02:58 UTC
SUMMARY

The folders panel does not provide any means to navigate to folders higher in the folder tree. For example, if Dolphin is opened in ~, the folders panel cannot be used to navigate to /home or /.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1.

Navigate to any directory other than /.

2.

Turn on the folders panel using any means desired (e.g. F7 or the menus).

3.

Observe the contents of the folders panel.

OBSERVED RESULT

There is no way to navigate up the folder tree to a higher level directory.

EXPECTED RESULT

There should be some way to navigate to higher level directories using this panel in addition to the upward navigation features provided by the Dolphin main toolbar 'go up' button and the features of the location bar.

I want to add more info on this.

When you're in any subdirectory of ~/, you can only navigate the contents of ~/,
and when outside of ~/, such as /home/ or /etc/, you can navigate everywhere.

OS: Manjaro
Kernel: 5.3.18-1-MANJARO (linux53)

Version:
plasma-desktop 5.17.5-2
KDE Frameworks 5.66.0-1
Dolphin 19.12.2-1

I don't know if this is a bug or if it is intended

We have a setting "Limit to home directory" to change this behavior, use the context menu to disable this.
Once this setting is disabled the whole file system tree is always displayed.
