Description Joshua Ashton 2020-02-22 17:18:03 UTC
SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Setup a Spectacle hotkey for Capture Rectangular Region
2. Set Spectacle to "Copy image to clipboard" in the "After taking a screenshot:" section
3. Take a screenshot using the hotkey

OBSERVED RESULT

The image is taken and saved, but the contents are not placed in my clipboard.

EXPECTED RESULT

The image is taken and saved and it is also placed in my clipboard.

Taking the screenshot via. the Spectacle GUI copies to my clipboard automatically correctly, whereas taking it via the hotkey, it isn't.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: 5.5.4-15-tkg-pds
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.1
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.67.0
Qt Version: 5.14.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Comment 1 David Redondo 2020-02-22 17:41:07 UTC
This is not a bug but intentional. Notice that this setting is under the header "When Spectacle is running"
Comment 2 Joshua Ashton 2020-02-22 18:24:05 UTC
Then can we get an option to have this behaviour when using the hotkeys?
(fwiw I am using a clipboard manager that accepts images.)

That distinction is pretty silly too imo:
Why would I want an automatic copy when using the GUI, but not when I am using the shortcut which I am obviously using for convenience? :-/
Comment 3 Patrick Silva 2020-02-28 14:21:14 UTC
yes, it would be very nice if Spectacle also copied to clipboard screenshots taken via shortcuts.
