keboard locale icons overlapping

SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have at least two locale keyboard layouts.
2. Have the key layouts shown on systray.
3. Click the icon to switch the local layout but keep the cursor on the same spot, hovering over the icon.

OBSERVED RESULT

When keyboard locale icon is clicked, new locale symbol appears but the old one stays until cursor goes away. Both icons overlap on each other. The effect stays as long as the cursor is over this icon.

EXPECTED RESULT
After click, the locale changes and the old icon is replaced with the new one immediately.

What provides this? Is it the ibus applet? Or something else?

This is a usual part of system tray. You need to have at least two different keyboard setups and choose this element to always show.

This is important if you write in different languages where some signs and letters are placed in a different place. This is the case with German type of keyboard layout. Since I'm writing in 3 languages (Polish keyboard has all English signs, German has a different set so signs are in completely different places and some letters are switched with places).

I cannot reproduce on: 5.18.5 and 5.19 beta. When I click it shows an animation and new icon replaces old one without issues.

Works for me too. Is this something you can reproduce in Plasma 5.19?
Comment 5 Michał Dybczak 2020-07-12 15:34:41 UTC
No, the bug seems to be gone on Plasma 8.19.3 or possibly earlier.
I guess this can be closed :).

Phew!
