Description loyukfai 2020-02-12 16:32:13 UTC
Just the thumbnails would be fine, would be useful for a quick check on the road.

This function already exists. If the network collection is already recorded with the thumbnails, the thumbnails are also displayed when the network collection is offline.

digiKam 7.0.0 stable release is now published:

https://www.digikam.org/news/2020-07-19-7.0.0_release_announcement/

We need a fresh feedback on this file using this version.

Thanks in advance

Tested with Digikam 7.1 on Fedora33/Qubes.

I'm trying to access old backup of Pictures folder on external disk encrypted with veracrypt.
This is not seen by digikam as usb/removal media/network collection.

Only import folder seems to work but duplicating image files and filling disk...
import usb storage devices or card readers are greyed out

From Digikam Settings > Collections: "add collections on removable media" seems to get the wanted result
not sure if difference if marking as network share
but digikam moved it to local collections and only at following digikam start with collection not connected, it will be offered to move back to removable media (or stay as is)
A good extra option would allow to mark collection as read-only (likely same than Bug 149475 - SETUP : add support of collections in read only)
another option would be allowing those collections to have a separate database, either on same support/disk, either elsewhere.
