Description Myriam Schweingruber 2020-02-12 11:43:37 UTC
There is currently no simple option to disable the Latte Dock.

It should have a "remove" button like every other Plasma panel.

The only way to disable it I currently found is to disable the autostart and then kill the process.

You want to Close Latte or Remove a dock?
Comment 2 Myriam Schweingruber 2020-02-13 00:55:07 UTC
I would like to have an easy option to either disable it or remove the dock altogether. On all other Plasma panels there is an option to remove the panel, it would only be consistent if that also was available for Latte.

Close Latte:

Right click Dock -> Layouts -> Configure... -> File -> Quit

OR

with shortcuts:
1. Meta + W
2. Ctrl + Q

Wow, very hidden "feature", why no remove button as any other Panel has?
And why is this feature not in the Dock Edit section as well?

Understand me well: I usually don't use the Latte Dock, I use a standard panel, but I do support in the KDE forums and have to test things reported my users. I was really a bit surprised that neither me nor a Plasma developer I asked could easily find the proper way to remove the dock, other than removing the auto start and then kill it.

From a usability PoV this should be easier to find.

I don't object if there is a nicer place to add Quit option. Remove button exists but you should have at least two docks/panels shown, for protection reasons, there is no easy way to readd a dock if you remove it accidentally.

Why not add it to the selection list of Panels (right click on Desktop -> Add Panel) if it is installed? Talk to the Plasma devs about this, would make it easier for everybody. I mean, it is a framework meant to replace the traditional panels, would make sense to have it in the same place.

Sorry I am already too committed with so many projects and tasks... I will leave this to the KDE community. Latte has become too big and important to be managed only from a single person, unfortunately that is the truth and that of course creates uncertainty for its future.
