STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. start Wayland session
2. try to disable compositing by pressing alt+shift+f12 (or another shortcut set in system settings > global shortcuts > kwin
3. 

OBSERVED RESULT
nothing happens, compositing is still enabled

EXPECTED RESULT
compositing should be disabled when we press the proper shortcut

No, you cannot disable compositing on Wayland.

Any specific reason you wanted to disable compositing?
