Description Unknown 2020-02-09 20:32:51 UTC
SUMMARY
when the plasma renderer is set to hardware (default) any interaction with the desktop(like dragging icons) or KDE Application like settings cause the CPU to max out and make the app completely unresposive

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. set plasma renderer to hardware
2. try moving icons around in the desktop

OBSERVED RESULT
While dragging icons plasmashell maxes out my CPU and the desktop becomes highly unresponsive

EXPECTED RESULT
The desktop to not hog all my CPU and work smoothly (as is the case when using the software renderer on plasma)

What do you mean exactly "the Plasma renderer"? Are you talking about the hidden "Plasma Renderer" KCM or the Compositor KCM? Can you provide a screenshot of what you're looking at? Thanks!
