SUMMARY when the plasma renderer is set to hardware (default) any interaction with the desktop(like dragging icons) or KDE Application like settings cause the CPU to max out and make the app completely unresposive STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. set plasma renderer to hardware 2. try moving icons around in the desktop OBSERVED RESULT While dragging icons plasmashell maxes out my CPU and the desktop becomes highly unresponsive EXPECTED RESULT The desktop to not hog all my CPU and work smoothly (as is the case when using the software renderer on plasma) SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: Manjaro (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.17.90 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.66.0 Qt Version: 5.14.1 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION CPU: Pentium 2160 (2GHZ) GPU: Intel 845G Integrated graphics MEM: 2GB DDR2 if i can provide any useful logs about the issue then please tell me how i should obtain said logs
What do you mean exactly "the Plasma renderer"? Are you talking about the hidden "Plasma Renderer" KCM or the Compositor KCM? Can you provide a screenshot of what you're looking at? Thanks!
