1. lock screen

OBSERVED RESULT
screen tearing on sddm screen renders it unusable

Lock screen and SDDM are different things.

Please try to explain which one you mean.
Also a photo would help.

Sorrry, it is SDDM.

Not to sure how to take a photo of it tho. It is really quick flashes of white, usually after you you type the first letter to your password and whenever you move your cursor.
