Description phu 2020-01-26 16:53:47 UTC
SUMMARY

Whitebalance effect (color picker) can not be used with keyframes.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Load a video
2. add a white balance (LMS space) effect
3. add keyframes
4. for each keyframe choose a color area with the color picker

OBSERVED RESULT

The picked color is not stored with the keyframe. only the color temperature is stored. this is a pitty because the color picker would be such a good tool.
EXPECTED RESULT

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma:
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version:
KDE Frameworks Version:
Qt Version:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Suggestion for an automated white balance effect:
Define (with key frames) a square box in the video (size and position variable per key frame). The average color inside the box defines white. Automatically adjust the color for the rest of the picture according that defined white color.

Thanks for your report! The white balance (LMS space) effect doesn't support key frames for the neutral color. This needs to be changed upstream before we can change this in Kdenlive. As it might suffice to change this in mlt (where Kdenlive devs contribute to), I keep this open as a feature request.

Would be nice to have; in the meantime, it would be great to see that color is not relative to keyframes (took me some minutes to find out...).

Small update: support for keyframable colors just landed in MLT recently (7.12.0) we can soon start to implement this in Kdenlive (probably for version 23.04, but NOT for upcoming 22.12)
