SUMMARY Kubuntu upgrade DESTROYS functioning nvidia driver STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. upgrade kubuntu kernel and mesa drivers 2. reboot 3. watch system crash 4. system setting cannot change driver (useless) OBSERVED RESULT wrong driver installed, system settings says correct driver is installed. Info says something different EXPECTED RESULT system settings can update drivers info and system settings match SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: KDE Frameworks Version: Qt Version: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

At first it looked like a systemsettings error but after poking around, the upgrade was handled very poorly and caused multiple problems on my end. I have decided to quit Kubuntu and KDE. I shall not use them.
