SUMMARY Filtering within a folder that has many subfolders in open/save dialogs is not very useful at the moment because the filter only applies to files. It should be applied also to subfolders in addition to files, just as how it works in dolphin. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open a open/save dialog 2. Go to a folder that has tens of subfolders 3. Filter the result OBSERVED RESULT The filter applies to files only EXPECTED RESULT The filter should apply to all files and subfolders SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: KDE neon 5.17 KDE Plasma Version: 5.17.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.65.0 Qt Version: 5.13.2
That's why it was originally called "file type" because it is *not* a plain view filter like in Dolphin.

Fair enough, but the issue is not really about the name; it is about the functionality. In my original report I mentioned a use-case in which this functionality is particularly relevant. If this was implemented in Dolphin I assume some KDE devs thought that this functionality was important, and this issue is about having that also in Open/Save dialogs. I know, however, that KDE devs are very busy and that you have many things in your plate, so this might not be a priority.
