SUMMARY
before i say anything else, i managed to fix this by saving the file as a .tif .

i was drawing on krita-nightly-x64-v4.3.0-prealpha-809-g2c21a4c21e and all of a sudden i wasn't able to draw anymore. can't use brushes or any other tools, can't erase, can't use filters etc. i can however hide layers, delete them or create new ones, adding a fill layer for example doesn't show on the canvas though.

this somehow only affects this single file, so idk if it's a setting i accidentally changed? does such a setting exist? my blend mode is normal and the opacity 100% btw.

You probably had a very small selection active in the kra file. It's hard to say from the screenshot, since it doesn't include the statusbar which contains the warning icon about active selections. Please check with the original kra file.

i have tried deactivating selection and creating a new one to no avail. i uploaded the kra to onedrive if you wanna have a look https://1drv.ms/u/s!An8tAQ7i_oNMqAwpq14vC61zMDei?e=n7aMyP

if you look at the layer preview of the fill layer i added, you can see that it is filled too, but still invisible...oh wait sorry, thanks for the reply that seemed to be the case
