SUMMARY
git f923297
It doesn't seem to happen in 4.2.8.

In some cases, with guide in the canvas, selections and select shape tool visually misbehave. (Check the video and the file attatched) When there's no guide it works as expected, at least visually.

I'm not sure when exactly it happens. (...for now.)

I've tried this with the git f923297 Windows portable .zip on Windows 10 and couldn't see this with your provided file. I tried putting lots of guides on and changing the local selection but didn't see the artifacts that you saw.
Comment 3 Halla Rempt 2020-05-06 13:26:15 UTC
Did you have canvas acceleration disabled? Does does look a bit like the sort of artefacts that can happen with the cpu canvas.

It still happens in git bc1f57d. I found 2 new things :
1 It(The visual projection) only appears when the guide is set to Dashed or Dots.
2 It also appears when using Transform Tool.
Comment 7 Tiar 2021-08-24 14:56:50 UTC
@acc4 Can you please tell if your canvas acceleration is disabled or enabled when you see those artifacts?
Comment 8 Halla Rempt 2022-08-11 10:55:16 UTC
Setting to needsinfo.
Comment 9 acc4commissions 2022-08-12 05:02:07 UTC
I generally always have Canvas Graphics Accelerations on. I'm not entirely sure but I'm pretty sure it was enabled.

But when I tested with the latest nightly build today(git f03ffc1) this bug didn't show. I'll post here if it happens again later.
Comment 10 Halla Rempt 2022-08-12 05:36:50 UTC
Okay, closing then for now.
