SUMMARY
When frensh language is selected for KDE environment, the balance display is truncated. 

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create an account with enough money to reach 5 digit ( more than 10 000)
2. Check display 
3. Install french language
4. Check again the display

OBSERVED RESULT
With english language the display is OK.
If frensh language is selected the display is truncated, only 3 digits can be seen and it is not possible to resize the column.
See attachment with both display.

EXPECTED RESULT
Same display with french language or possibility to resize columns

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: Windows 10 Entreprise

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I use also KmyMoney with Linux Ubuntu 18.04 and I don't have problem in this environment.

Which version do you use on the Linux/Mint install? Did you try to use the 5.0.x version for Windows? Does it also show the problem?

Your screenshot shows that the date column is too small regardless of the language used. 

I tried several settings on the font page of the kmymoney settings dialog, but couldn't reproduce this problem: 
1. Use system font
2. Use custom font
2.1 Make size bigger
2.1 Make size smaller
2.2 Use a different font

I also increased the font size in the Windows 10 settings without being able to reproduce this problem.

I currently assume that a setting outside of kmymoney is responsible.

I use the last version available for windows which seem to be 4.8.4. I use the 64 bits version.

I tried system font as you did and ... it's ok now for me also.
