SUMMARY

The current brightness and volume indicators are more or less centered in the screen and overlay the content beneath it.  

I find it more convenient if they were less intrusive by being smaller, i.e. more rectangular and on the side of the screen. 
For a reference, maybe similar like Windows10 handles it.

This might have been fixed by https://phabricator.kde.org/D20569, had it landed.
