SUMMARY

If the up- or down button of the edit are clicked, the "apply" button does activate but not if the user clicks into the field and changes the number manually.

Actually this works just fine as soon as the user tabs away from the control or hits the return key. This is the standard behavior for all spinbox controls throughout Qt. If you don't like this, you'd need to take it up with the Qt developers.
