Description eldrad.ulthran 2019-11-19 13:21:40 UTC
I have mounted a samba share via /etc/fstab and can browse it with Dolphin, create folders, rename files and copy from it, but when I try to copy any files on the share I get an error message that there is no free space. The status bar at the bottom states that the free space is unknown.
However, I am able to copy via 'cp' in the terminal, therefore this has to be related to Dolphin.

The share is mounted as following in /etc/fstab:
//link/to/server /mount-name cifs uid=1000,credentials=/path/to/credentials 0 0

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. mount a Samba share
2. launch Dolphin and navigate to the share
3. launch another Dolphin and navigate to some local folder
4. copy any file from local to samba share

OBSERVED RESULT

File is not copied, error message "File can not be written. Not enough space on medium." (translated from German)

EXPECTED RESULT

File should be copied on share drive.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: OpenSuse 15.0
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.12.8
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.45.0
Qt Version: 5.9.4

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This seems to be a rather old bug, as this thread on stackexchange shows: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/131456/kde-cifs-mount-can-copy-files-with-mc-but-dolphin-wont

I've just tested this with Dolphin from git master and cannot reproduce.

Can you please retest and confirm this if this is still an occurring issue, thanks.

For me this bug still occurs, even with a newer system than when the bug was submitted. I'm using Dolphin that is distributed with the OS. Updated system info:

OS: OpenSuse Leap 15.2
Plasma: 5.18.5
KDE Frameworks: 5.71.0
Qt: 5.12.7
Dolphin: 20.04.02

Forgot to change status…

Those are still older versions, I'm afraid. This was fixed quite recently, like in the last month or two.

BTW based on your email address I will go out on a limb and suggest that if you are a fan of both FOSS and tabletop wargames, you might be interested in a FOSS wargame I'm developing called Wasteland Tactics that aspires to offer a better set of rules for 40K models.

I haven't written the rules for Eldar yet; maybe you might be able to help with that? :)
