I've tried the same thing on a different system, also running Ubuntu 18.04.03 LTS, running both the latest daily build and 19.11.80-0ce0f75 and the problem didn't occur. It must be something on my pc then. Any pointers for resolving this issue?

Turned out to be system related. Works fine after OS reinstall
