Description Ruedi Hofer 2019-11-10 12:41:03 UTC
Hi
2 integration problems, evtl related to appimage:

- I just donwloaded the 6.4 appimage on my newly updated kubuntu 19.10. However, when I select an image to be sent by email, thunderbird is not started.

- In the thumbnail mode, if I press 'open with', there is no tool in the list. If I start the default digikam 5.9 from the distro, there is a bunch of tools in the list, including gimp.

I already saw this problems on kubuntu 19.04 with digikam 6.3. Is there a way to fix this? Maybe it is a failure on my local system?
Thanks, Ruedi

These problem are generic with AppImage. This kind of bundle is limited.

Alternative will to use Flatpak instead. This planed for later...

We need a fresh feedback on this file using this version.

Thanks in advance

With next digiKam 7.4.0 release, AppImage bundle is compiled using a more recent Linux Mageia 7.1 host. Last stable Qt 5.15.2 and KF5 5.84 are used. ImageMagick codec 7 and libav 58 (ffmpeg) are used to supports extra image and video formats.

Please check if problem still reproducible with this version available as pre-release here:

I tried digiKam-7.4.0-20211118T131744-x86-64.appimage.
The problem is still there.
Ubuntu 21.10, Gnome 40.4.0, Wayland.
The reduced images are created in /tmp/digikam-WnKmAc/... and will be deleted, when Finish is clicked.
