SUMMARY

When I click on external links in applications like VSCode, a pop-up appears with  "ERROR: KIO client <4>/ The file or folder http://localhost:8000/ does not exist"

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. echo http://localhost:8000/ in the KDE console
2. Hold CTRL and click on the link
3. The same message is produced, only without "error: kio client <number>

In KDE "Default Applications > Web Browser > Open http and https URLs" is set to "in an application based on the contents of the URL"
when setting it to "google chrome" or other, the links are opened as expected

This confusing feature has been removed in Plasma 5.19, which should fix the issue.
