SUMMARY Seems like GDM does not parse the Type=XSession/Wayland key for desktop files, which means GDM only lists one entry for both XSession and Wayland. Perhaps we can name our session a bit better? it worked for me at least with GDM 3.36.x on Arch Linux.
Can you check again with at least Plasma 5.23? Git master or the Plasma 5.24 beta (released tomorrow) would be even better. :)
