SUMMARY

Today's at 18:45 (my system booted a few minutes before) I saw a sudden desktop's color change for the night mode.
It's either a bug or a flaw in the design. I'm used to Redshift which made the switch gradually.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Boot into the system with night mode on at a time where there is already dark and night mode should be on.
2. Wait a few minutes. 

OBSERVED RESULT

3. See the abrupt change which doesn't look good.

EXPECTED RESULT

Gradual, nice to eye change.

Since this has been resolved in future versions of Plasma (I'm not sure when it showed up, but Plasma 5.20 already has it) and night colors are showing on gradually, I'm closing this case.
