SUMMARY Previous versions of Kate used to allow me to save changes to root files with a password prompt. The prompt no longer appears and the application freezes when attempting to save. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open a root file in Kate 2. Make a change to the file 3. Save the file OBSERVED RESULT The program will freeze and must be cancelled through a system monitor. EXPECTED RESULT A password prompt appears and the file is saved when the correct password is entered. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Kubuntu 19.10. Kernel 5.3.0-18-generic. This issue disappeared for me a few weeks ago and I am unsure what fixed it because I reinstalled kubuntu-desktop, reinstalled nvidia drivers and updated kate.
