SUMMARY

Image edit only launches once per Digikam session.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Tools -> Image Editor
2. Image editor launches as expected
3. Close image editor
4. Tools -> Image Editor
5. Image editor does NOT launch

OBSERVED RESULT

Image editor does not launch second time.

EXPECTED RESULT

Image editor launches.

Correction:

5. Image editor window opens without image and is not usable.

The bug is now really old... and should be corrected by the distributions long ago...

DigiKam-5.9.0 is already quite old. The problem is in Qt. Other programs based on Qt will also be affected. If no more recent digiKam version is available for your distribution, you can also use the AppImage (6.3.0) from www.digikam.org.

One would hope that the latest (K)Ubuntu 19.10 released only a few days ago would have a more recent Digikam package...

Could anyone advise what the best option is for (k)ubuntu?

- apt: v5.9 -> known bugs, so not good option
- snap: v6.3 -> beta/edge warning, not official (?)
- appimage: v6.3 -> official, but not integrated in (k)ubuntu
