Description Sergey Y. Afonin 2002-04-19 14:42:50 UTC
(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: kmail
Version: 1.4 (using KDE 3.0.0 )
Severity: wishlist
Installed from: Red Hat Linux 7.2.92
Compiler: gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.2 2.96-109)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.18-pre9
OS/Compiler notes:

Switching to other KMail winows is impossible when "Properties of Folder" selected. Switching is useful if need copy of
E-Mail to "post address" for example.

Thanks
Sergey.

Note to the developers:
We have to be careful if we make the folder properties dialog non-modal=20
because then the user could delete the folder the properties dialog=20
belongs to while the dialog is still shown. This could quite easily=20
lead to a crash.

Regards
Ingo

I want to re-affirm the need to do this. Let me give you a use-case why this is wanted.

If I want to change a folder to be a mailing list; I have to open the dialog; check the checkbox and then I try to drag/drop or copy/paste the email address.
This last step won't work since I can't access any emails. (even while I see them on screen).

Since I don't want to copy-by-typing I cancel the dialog; copy the email address and start again.

Don't see a reason for a non-modal dialog anymore. You?
