(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: konqueror Version: KDE 3.0.5 CVS/CVSup/Snapshot Severity: normal Installed from: Compiled sources Compiler: gcc 2.96 OS: Linux OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified While browsing on a ftp site I chose 200 files and asked konqueror to download them (via F7 copy to). When the download is initiated it seems that konqueror verifies the existence of every file and that is incredibly slow so slow that got to the command line and used ftp and mget which were very fast (150 Kbytes/sec +) It seems to me that konqueror open a new ftp connection every time it verifies a file... I've noticed this too when copying from Samba shares (less slow since they are local PCs) and extracting only a few files from a tar.gz (seems the file gets decompressed many times) (Submitted via bugs.kde.org)
The problem is still there. To give you an example, go to ftp://ftp.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/contrib/texstar/screenshots, select all the files and press F7, copy to a temporary directory. (anonymous login may be required) Over an ISDN line I can see a very slow file count, the number is increasing once a second or so... very slow compared to an ftp client...

Error: I am having trouble loading java 1.4.2 on konqueror 3.1.3, Java works fine with mozilla but now konqueror. Kon is recongnizing the java plugins but it still isn't working.
