Description Dimitri Nüscheler 2019-10-07 14:59:47 UTC
SUMMARY
When closing a window (or when hovering the mouse over 2 windows and the desktop in the background) in the "Show windows of all Virtual Desktops" Overview (Ctrl+F10), then rendering stops for one second. After about one second the rendering continues at a normal framerate.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open 2 windows (Maybe it shows even with one window). For instance 2 konsole-Terminals.
2. Press Ctrl+F10 in order to activate the "Show windows of all Virtual Desktops" Overview.
3. Close one terminal window

OBSERVED RESULT
After closing the window, the screen content hangs for one second. The mouse cursor movement is still rendered at proper speed. The hang occurs at the time when the window is fading out as a result of the close action, but it doesn't seem to be related to the exact state of the rendering.

My setup uses 2 monitors, but it is also possible to see the hang if only one monitor is used.

With 2 monitors, however, it is possible to produce a hang by hovering the mouse between 2 windows that are on different monitors. It is necessary to move the mouse between the 2 windows and to hover also a piece of the desktop region in order for the hang to show. It doesn't work when the 2 windows are on the same monitor.

EXPECTED RESULT
Average framerate above 50 frames per second. Longest interval to be smaller than 40 milliseconds.
