I use IMAP in last of 1.5 year (I was needed to change imap software to cyrus-imap for separate mail storage from home directory for resolve problem discribed at 19 April 2002). This is have some negative and positive effects but I remain in opinion what this functionality need for pop. 1. In this implementation of KMail (I use 1.6.2 now) a copies of messages isn't exisit on clients workstations. A safety of messages completely depend from server's buckup. 2. А place on imap-server used for storing messages. A many ISP exact payment for additional space or use limit of space. IMAP good only for corporate mail servers or for servers with unlimited space. because <1> and <2> I think what IMAP isn't usable for some cases...
