.kra I'm having issues editing text in attached

SUMMARY
Whenever I edit an existing text to add (what appears to be) too many lines of text, Krita becomes unresponsive/freezes. It doesn't crash so I've been unable to get a crashlog.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Edit existing text box inside the layer I've titled "Text body" to contain 9 separate lines of text. (3 lines are already present, copying and pasting them to take up 9 lines reproduced the freeze.)

OBSERVED RESULT
Non-Responsive / Frozen

EXPECTED RESULT
Updated text and no freeze.

I don't have that freeze/crash on Windows 10 with the 4.2.6 or the latest 4.3.0 prealpha portable zip packages, with the .kra file as provided.

It does take about 20 seconds to open the file because you have a Bevel and Emboss layer style applied to a colour fill background layer. It may not make a difference but can you take that layer style off and try again?
Comment 3 Andrew 2019-09-27 11:18:38 UTC
I was messing with the layer effects after I found the freeze, not before. I nevertheless removed all layer effect and still reproduced the freeze. I'll attach an image of the text edit and it showing (Not Responding).

Text edit (not responding)

All I did was copy the existing 3 lines, and paste them twice to occupy 9 lines total. Clicking "Save"immediately results in the program being non-responsive.

Again, no. I assume you mean clicking 'Save' in the text editor window? I tried that and also did a file Save after with no problems.

Can you create a fresh new file and try to recreate this with a simple structure of just one vector/text layer to see if you still get a problem?

New test file I created.

Yes I meant clicking "save" in the text edit window. It immediately freezes. I tried doing this with a new file. Same result. However, I did notice I had to save the file, exit, reload the saved file, and then attempt the edit for it to freeze. I've attached the new file I created which also freezes.

how I edited the text

Here is a screenshot of how I edited the text exactly, so you can duplicate the font/size etc.

Again, no. I can add as many new lines as I like, by copy/pasting or by typing and I have no problems. You have a 'strange situation' which may (or may not) be caused by some unusual interaction between your Windows 10 system and krita 4.2.6 which does not occur between my Windows 10 system and krita 4.2.6.

I'd suggest one more thing which is to download the krita 4.2.7 beta-1 portable zip package and try that: https://krita.org/en/item/lets-test-krita-4-2-7-beta/ (which I've just tried with no problems).

If you still have this freeze situation then set this bug report status back to REPORTED and version 4.2.7 beta-1 then wait to see if anyone else can confirm your observations.
Comment 9 Andrew 2019-09-27 15:28:42 UTC
Already downloaded the beta, and it seems to work, although the text editor has some strange issue with line breaks (I have to edit them in a VERY odd way), it is usable. Guess I will be using the beta for now.

Thank you for looking into it, sorry you weren't able to reproduce it.
Comment 10 Ahab Greybeard 2019-09-27 15:40:38 UTC
Please create a new report for that issue with line breaks that you've seen, after you've established a definite way of inducing it. I did notice something strange with new lines as I was trying to reproduce your situation but it didn't happen after I tried to do it again.

I've also noticed somethign else that is strange and I'll make a bug report for that soon.
